After a nearly six-month closure, CC’s 2 Seriously Good, the vegan eatery formerly known as CC’s Vegan Spot, has announced its new home at 211 Village Square in Hazelwood, slated to open on Saturday, Dec. 2.
“We’re looking forward to getting back into the business and supplying customers with what they’re used to having,” said owner Trezel Brown.
Although it has been a lengthy process to move from the city to the county, this isn’t the first relocation for the business. In 2021, Brown moved the eatery from Alton, Illinois, to 4993 Loughborough Ave., where the eatery operated for a year. The restaurant closed that location earlier this year and has since operated via catering using Theodora Farms’ commercial kitchen in Godfrey, Illinois.
Plans to move the successful plant-based eatery to North County have been in the works for some time since much of Brown’s customer base made the trip from the North County area when the eatery was in South City. “I’ve always wanted to be there,” she said. “North County has always supported me, and I’m really excited to be putting CC’s there.”
In what will be Brown’s biggest space to date, the Hazelwood eatery will have seating capacity for 42 guests, along with an area at the front of the building for a few outdoor tables when weather permits. With a blue and yellow color scheme inside, the restaurant will also have a New York meets Midwest theme featuring images of landmarks like the Manhattan and Brooklyn bridges and the Gateway Arch, since Brown is originally from Harlem and her business partner Tracy Johnson-Garcia is from Brooklyn.
Another aspect of the new decor will be what Brown calls a wall of fame. The wall will feature photos of celebrities from St. Louis and beyond that Brown has cooked for, including musicians Omarion and Erykah Badu, along with Kyjuan and Murphy Lee from the hip-hop group St. Lunatics, to name a few.
The menu will include a few new items, such as new salads and a Buffalo chickpea wrap, while Brown promises that some customer favorites that were on the menu at her Alton location, like the jalapeno poppers, will make a reappearance as well. Additionally, guests can expect to find plant-based soul food such as vegan chops, a dish called Side Piece, which is a vegan twist on ribs, as well as burgers and sandwiches made from veggies, not animals, and many other items. The goal is to provide healthy and delicious options for everybody.
“We’re trying to reach everyone where they’re at with their health and dietary needs,” she said. “The menu is pretty extensive, but we’re going to touch on everything so people can just sit down and eat.”
