Tesco has issued an urgent recall for its popular curry dish over concerns that a certain batch may contain milk – customers have been warned to not eat the product and bring it back to the store
Tesco shoppers who recently purchased a vegan curry are being urged to return the item as it may contain an allergen.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) issued a warning over the Plant Chef Sweet Potato & Chickpea Tikka Masala because it could include “undeclared milk”. The product is part of the Plant Chef range which specialises in 100% meat-free items.
An alert issued by the food regulator stated: ” Tesco is recalling Tesco Plant Chef Sweet Potato & Chickpea Tikka Masala because it may contain milk which is not mentioned on the label. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.”
The 400g container of the product is affected by the recall, with a best-before date of August 31 2024, and the batch code is L23215S. The risk statement from health official reads: “This product may contain milk making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.” Customers who have an allergy or an intolerance to milk have been told to not eat the product and instead take it back to the branch where they purchased it, or phone customer services to get issued a full refund. A milk allergy can cause symptoms including hives, an upset stomach, vomiting, and change in stool habits.
Last month Tesco also recalled a piece of tech equipment such as a children’s night light. It comes after the baby product company Nuby UK recalled its Penguin Nightlight which has recently been sold at Tesco stores. The company took action due to a “potential weak point” at the bend in the cable head that may cause a short – posing a safety risk to customers. The affected product’s full name is “Nuby Penguin Nightlight L-shape USB-C Cable” and its product code is listed as 99616. Those who have purchased this item may have been urged to alert Nuby customer services team and ask for a free replacement cable. Customers can speak to the company via email at enquiries@nuby-uk.com or by contacting their helpline on 0800 334 5844. Alternatively, you can also return the item to your local Tesco store where you will receive a full refund with no receipt needed.
